Do you have trouble finding great fashion to fit your curvy petite figure?

(By the way, "404" means "page not found" so I'm glad you made it here! Welcome!)
For most of my life, finding fashionable clothes that I can wear right out of the store has been frustrating
because I was both petite and full figured. Some designers make dress pants or jeans in a 'short' length,
but the truth is, "short" and "petite" are not the same thing - while the leg length may be "short,"
the stride of a "short" pant is just too long.
True petite sized clothes are proportioned for those of us with shorter arms,
legs and torso, but a little "fluffier" around the middle!
You're probably here because you have encountered the same frustration
I have with clothes shopping. Why can't designers make clothes that will fit us?!
I have a special place in my heart for the young, full figured gal...
the one who wants to wear what all the other girls are wearing.
I have found that this is even more of a challenge today
than years ago (I won't say how many!) when I was a teen.
Yes, we can all stand to lose a few pounds, and I do not disagree with the
health issues associated with being overweight, but...
today - not tomorrow or next year - I want to feel pretty and look good.
Do I hear an "amen!" ??
My goal with this website is to scour the internet and find the best fashion
and websites out there for us... for all occasions from everyday to career to fancy to weddings...
and other related sites you might be interested in for lingerie and sleepwear, shoes, accessories
and let's not leave out cosmetics and healthy choices to look and feel our best!
The Back Page Classifieds page has those "other" categories that aren't
strictly fashion, but may be of interest to you as well.
I want to be your one-stop resource to finding the latest in fashion and beauty finds
for big beautiful girls and women - and give you some perks, too ~
like percents off deals and free shipping that you won't find by going directly to the merchant ~

Plus Size In The News
MSNLiving gives a plus size spring style guide as well as a peek at what's in store for plus size spring wedding dresses. I would have to disagree with their spring trend of capris or clam diggers for most women, in general, and especially for petite pluses. The are just not flattering for about 92% of the population... jus' saying.
MSNBC published an article back in March 2012 about the fashion industry finally acknowledging that "every woman deserves great fashion!" Still a long way to go, but it's a start!
From the LA Times, the sluggish economy does have an upside! Retailers and designers are finding out that there is a demand for plus size clothing for women! Read about it here! Give us a reason to go out and stimulate the economy!!
Style Plus Curves is a fabulous blog by a Chicago plus-size model! She has a page of Chicagoland stores carrying our size clothes, and I will see if I can get deals for you if you live elsewhere and want to shop these stores online! She has a list of online stores, too!

Here's an article from TODAY discussing whether calling young girls' or tweens' clothing "plus size" is offensive and negative. Interesting. However, I am in total agreement that a large girl MUST have clothes in the same style as her peers (but flattering) instead of something intended for someone older.
Plus Model Mag is an excellent website with lots of information on fashion and trends. Check out the 9 Key Items for Fall!
Petite Plus International! Here's a Q&A section of The Irish Times wherein a woman bemoans the fact that she's 5'2" and a size 20 and can't find flattering clothes. I'm not sure how the size translates to US sizes, but her issue is universal - where to find clothes to fit that don't drag the ground. I'm hoping she finds my site! :-)
Diane Dube is a new website I've found for petites. Here's her sizing chart - you can't be over 5'3"! Isn't that great??? You can also find her and friend her on Facebook!
Ralph Lauren hires their first plus size model! Welcome, Robyn Lawley from Down Under. Robyn wears a size 12, however, but it's sure a start in the right direction!
Outsized Clothing?
Apparently that is the new term for clothes sized outside the norm, either bigger or smaller. Not sure that's going to catch on. :-( |
